Serving

Often contemplative spirituality and action in the world are separated. But in the thinking of Jesus, love of God and love of neighbor are inseparably linked. Getting close to the heart of God means getting close to his heart for the world.

John and Kathy have a heart for those who spend their lives serving others, particularly church planters, missionaries, and those who serve among the marginalized.

But all are called to serve others. There are lost sheep to be found. The least and lonely to be cared for. And good news to be proclaimed and lived out everywhere.

Moving into the world on mission and serving people can be depleting spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We want people to experience the life-giving presence and deep love of God. Having been energized by the Spirit, a person then has what it takes to lay down his or her life for the sake of others.

A Celtic Prayer

Leave me alone with God as much as may be.

As the tide draws the waters close in upon the shore,

Make me an island, set apart,

Alone with you, God, holy to you.

Then with the turning of the tide

Prepare me to carry your presence

to the busy world beyond,

The world that rushes in on me,

Till the waters come again and fold me back to you.
